Lab Technician

Job Description

A lab technician position is responsible for the preparation or analysis of samples for contaminants on various types of sample matrices (water, soil, hazardous waste, food products) following EPA, FDA and other analytical procedures. He/she also assures that maintenance of lab instrumentation and record-keeping of analysis documentation will be kept up-to-date while following strict QA/QC requirements and policies.

Skills and Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Chemistry or related field
  • Exceptional data management
  • Demonstrate proficient use of computers/software programs
  • Organized, driven and independent
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures
  • Strong organizational skills and able to work under time constrains
  • Familiar with good laboratory practice (GLP)


  • Perform extractions of sample of a variety of matrices (water, soil, solids, tissue and food) following detailed procedures described in the company's protocol.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation related to analysis and training.
  • Ability to communicate with other chemists, supervisors, project managers, QA officer and technical personnel.
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments according to manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Preform miscellaneous tasks within the department and laboratory
  • Work in a team environment
